Rules of conduct
La Plaza is a friendly table. These rules apply to chat and to play in every online game.
Be kind
No insults, harassment or threats. No slurs about anyone’s race, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality or disability.
Keep the game fair
Don’t talk about tiles or plays during a partner hand, and don’t signal your partner. No second accounts, and no playing with friends to feed anyone’s rating.
No spam, links or contact details
No ads, links, phone numbers, emails or social handles. Never share your own personal details, or anyone else’s.
Banter is welcome
Tease, celebrate, complain about your luck. Swearing is masked for players who keep the profanity filter on.
How the rules are kept
- The chat filter stops slurs, threats and contact details before they’re sent. During a partner hand, talk about tiles is held back with a note: just say it another way.
- Reports are weighed. One player’s report alone never punishes anyone, and nobody is punished for chat without messages the system can see.
- Penalties start mild and fade after 30 days: a warning, chat muted for 24 hours, then for 7 days, then chat off until a person reviews it. Only a person can ban an account from online play.
- Every penalty shows why, and can be challenged in the app with a note. A person looks at every challenge.
- Cheating and table talk are looked at by a person, with statistics from rated games. Nothing happens automatically.
Your tools
- Mute a player for the match, block them (you won’t be matched with them again, and you won’t see their messages), or report them. Tap a message or their seat.
- Turn the profanity filter, or chat itself, off in Settings. The phrases still work.
Messages stay with the table only while it’s being played. They’re kept only when attached to a report, for 90 days.
